Ardoise

Ardoise

So, as I said, I’m doing my best to post as soon as I paint.
I finally got to use my new color, Ardoise by Sinful Colors. I saw this idea on Pinterest, from a website called ffffound.com. It turned out great.

Frosty the Snowman

Frosty the Snowman

imageHe was a jolly happy soul! I found this idea on Pinterest and it comes  from weheartit.com, which you should really check out.

I did a grey base, then a layer of glitter, then white tips and “snowflakes”.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I hope you had a nice, or at least a less stressful then usual Thanksgiving. Let’s face it, family gatherings are frought with tension and the most you can hope for is that no one blows a gasket. In public.

On the other hand, my fingers, on both hands, 🙂 looked very festive for the holiday.

For my fingers I saw this really great design from a fellow WordPress blogger, Coewless Nail Polish. And although I do not have red glitter (hint hint Santa) I do have a new red sparkle. I found a mini China Glaze on sale and it looks lovely. That and my very old chuncky gold glitter, it all came out smashingly. I seem to be in a very colorful adjective mood. Pardon the flourishes. Any way, I started with a white base, then added a thick tip of a gold sparkle, followed by a regular tip of the red sparkle, then several layers of the chucky gold glitter. It was awesome and it got rave reviews from random strangers which is always nice.

I also did my toes for autumn. There was this lovely combo of browns, grey and black. I did not have the colors in the picture, but mine were pretty close.

Orange and Grey

Orange and Grey

So I pinned a picture from Pinterest because the grey and orange nails really struck me; I thought the orange accent was very striking against the grey. Well, then I actually went to the website. They’re not grey, she just shot the picture in black & white and left one nail in color. Anyway, I did the grey and orange anyway, and it I really like how it turned out. Like I thought, very striking, and a nice fall combo. 🙂

Gradient Grey

Gradient Grey

So my first day of school nails were a big hit. But life goes on and nails chip. So I went looking for a technique which wouldn’t involve trimming the nail all the way down and losing the length. I came across this technique using tiny pieces from a tea bag. Click on the picture to be taken to the website which has full instructions. It’s pretty simple.

These are the same nails with the repair and color on top.

The last step of the instructions is to paint a a layer or two of color. I’ve moved on into the purples of my color arsenal. The grey on purple gradient I saw on Pinterest, and the picture will take you to the original website, Mynailpolishonline.com. The glitter is one I “enhanced”. I added a bunch of glitter to a glitter nailpolish from New York Color. I really like the way it came out.

For my little piggies I tried a color combo from The Nail Junkie. I think the pink and purple (sparkle) is very girly and fun.

The Runner Up

The Runner Up

This was the runner up from my nail polish poll. I found a tutorial for how to paint a heart on Pinterest, which you can find here. The yellow is NYC “Lexington Yellow” and the hearts are done in NYC “Sidewalkers”.  What was nice about these colors are these are from the “In a New York Minute” line, which is their quick dry line and they are dry in about 5 minutes. This is another design I found on Pinterest and you will find the original website if you click on the picture.

I decided I wanted to redo my toes as well and decided to do the design which lost the vote I did on my Facebook. This design did not get any votes, poor thing, but I’ve been wanting to try an ombre style. The colors are NYC (quickdry) “Lexington Yellow”/ NYC “Times Square Tangerine Creme”/Sinful Colors “Ruby Ruby”/NYC (quickdry) “Lincoln Center”.

Yes, I Did.

Yes, I Did.

Yes, I did match my nailpolish to my outfit. I just got this really cute new poncho which is a grey knit with black lace and a black flower design on a part of it. It was so cute I had to wear it the very next day. Since I had done my friend’s nails the night before, my nails were a little mussed. But, it meant I got to do my nails. 🙂 The more I thought about it, the more I wanted my nails to match my outfit. I know, I’m a nerd; I love it! So the base is a grey by NYC and the black tips, which were painted with my paintbrush, was by Wet & Wild. I loved it! Oh, and to add to the nerd factor; I did my nails while listening/watching 90’s music videos on Youtube.   8)
